@Black6spdZ - I’ve been using several old Fire tablets connected to Meshtastic devices for testing - they don’t have GPS, so it eliminates that security concern. Plus, Amazon has the latest version for only $40!

They also have the added benefit of not having a SIM card connected to any cell tower in range and leaking back data without your knowledge.
I install the apk directly too so that your not connecting to the Amazon store to download the app.

I truly wish I could on mine, but Amazon closed that hole in newer builds of the unit: Fire 7 (2019, mustang) unbrick, downgrade, unlock & root | XDA Developers Forums
I do have CyanogenMod running on a 2015 KFFOWI unit (as @geeksville is woefully aware), though, and will have to see about installing LineageOS on my other 2015 Fires.
