I just used the report bug feature multiple times to report what I observed : I lose some messages between devices, sometimes one way only, sometimes in both. I tried rebooting both meshtastic devices, after reporting the problem from both devices, messaged again (not working) and clicked on report again on both devices. Also tried to change mesh name on both devices and tested again. Sometimes I received message from one way but not the other, but messages I sent before from the same device were never retrieved.
Sorry if that spammed the system, I was just hoping to catch the multiple steps I tested. I’m ready to perform some tests if needed.
Phones involved are a Xiaomi Mi8 and Nexus 5X, both properly connected to their respective TTGO T-Beam v1.0 with 6M GPS, Both T-beams were 2 meters away.
Thanks for your help.
I have found that there seems to be something timing out/sleeping after 30s that then requires one message to be sent (not received anywhere) for the next message that is sent within 30s to get through. Messages get through fine if sent within 30s of each other though. This might be related but I’m sure @geeksville will get to the bottom of it!

I noticed a similar behaviour after I thought that I was losing out on messages. But then when checking serial monitor logs I found all my messages finally came through!
That reminds me I have to check this again, since I just received a 2nd T-beam, so now I can finally try a bigger setup alongside my smaller boards. But I’m up to loading all those boards with the newest Meshtastic upgrades! Thanks to all!

@dafeman 's comment is super useful. I hadn’t noticed that tidbit - thanks. I’ll be working on tomorrow. Yeah - I think somehow I slightly busted something ;-).
BTW, it also seems that at some point, boards are switching off with no way to reboot them (tested all buttons, even RST) other than unplugging and plugging USB again when powered on USB (I don’t have any battery inside my two boards, yet and it happened on both).
Also, timestamps are not good in messaging section, and are not kept (they ended to be reset to 1:00AM at some point)
How are you powering the boards? If you are using a powerbank, many powerbanks will switch off if there is not sufficient current drawn from connected devices.(like when the board is in sleep mode) this may also happen if powered from a computer, particullary laptops, as they often have this feature switched on under power saving settings (you can change that) I am not sure if this applies to random phone chargers (but probably to some).
