Windows standalone flasher

Hi,

Would ii be possible to bring back the Windows standalone flasher to flash both 1.2.x and 1.3.x Firmware?

Thanks

It is the latest version, it can’t support 1.2 and 1.3 at the same time

Hi Garth thanks for the info.
Do you plan on keeping the iPhone version 1.2.53 in Testflight past November or until what date?
Also are there any plans on bringing back the “single executable” installation option" for 1.3.x versions?

“Install using pipNote: The previous “single executable” installation option has been deprecated as of March 10, 2022.”

A lot of people with current radios programmed with 1.2.x versions may have trouble installing Python, etc and would need a easy way to upgrade to 1.3.x versions - a single executable.

Thanks

The 1.2 version in TestFlight is the last TestFlight build and will not be released in the App Store, the bluetooth stack in 1.2 is not compatible with SwitfUI and it its crashes at an unacceptable level. There are only 90 installs of 1.2 for iOS devices at this point.

Part of the issue with the flasher is that there are a lot more people using windows than contributing. The windows / Mac app releases needs someone to contribute and configure and manage the signing certificate. Python on windows is a rougher experience than on Mac or Linux.

I agree that flashing is still too hard, alas the flasher still has the most profound issue on desktops (the need to use a janky USB serial driver) At this point OTA updates via BLE on iOS, Android and the WebUI is the more likely path to simplified flashing.

1.2 is essentially for ATAK at this point, none of the core contributors are working on it at all anymore.

I think the wires got crossed here a little, there was a standalone flasher version we released that was discontinued, the winapp exe is still available. It does not have a new release every time the pip flasher updates as it is just a wrapper that pulls the latest version from pip https://github.com/meshtastic/Meshtastic-gui-installer/releases/tag/untagged-9a69e6946635cd38df7d
