Gulfport, Ms nodes?

Which setup have you determined to work best?

Kind of depends where you are going to deploy it or if it will be a mobile node.

For remote locations, I find PVC pipe works best and is cheap (I have used waterproof project boxes and electrical boxes). I like the Wisblocks because of minimal power needed. One or two 18650s will keep a Wisblocking going for weeks. If you are doing solar a 5v/2w, 5v/3w, or a 5v/6w work great. The larger the panel the quicker the batteries will charge. I have a Wisblock/5v/2w high in a tree and it has been running for weeks…rain or shine and never goes down much.

What mAh capacity batteries are you using?
Also what antennas are you using?

I connected to OS05 and OS06, as well as a few other nodes again today at the courthouse rd pier.

Looking forward to getting the node setup on my truck as well as the permanent deployment of the solar node.

Awesome! I am using 3000mah 18650 cells. As for antenna: 915MHz LoRa Antenna Indoor 3dBi Gain Omni SMA Male.

Very impressive, i have limited 18650 cells but ordered some 3,450 mAh cells to try, I think I also want to try some 21700 cells (5,000 mAh).
I’m impressed by those antennas. I believe there was a dude in the Facebook group that said he has picked up OS05 sporadically at his house in pearl River county.

Hello all, I am the guy from latimer lol I currently have a couple tbeams. One at my house in latimer two at the Beau. One in my office and one on the roof and the last one for mobile. Would love to help get this network up and a few guys from work are on board as well. Not related but also looking at getting a gmrs repeater up as well

Welcome! My brother in law and I were discussing how to approach the casinos to see about placing nodes on their roofs, glad you were able to do so!
If you need any help with anything feel free to ask and I’ll see what I can do to help. I’m far from an expert on this but it’s been very fun to tinker with.

I am also a GMRS user, working on getting my ham, I am also very disappointed in the lack of GMRS repeaters locally but unfortunately unless I run across a screaming deal on the hardware and a tower it’s very unlikely that I will be able to get one running in my neck of the woods very soon, but we have property just north of Diamondhead as well as up near saucier that I would like to put a repeater at (probably not both but one of the two) to help cover the Hancock/harrison county areas, I’m not sure what the expected range for GMRS on a 50’ tower with a 50 watt transceiver would be.

Thanks! I am very fortunate I was able to get a repeater node up there. It has been up there for about a year on solar with no issues at all. I need to go update the firmware

Some of the guys at work are looking to pool our money for a repeater we can also put on the roof. I think that would give us lots of fars

I would love to get some more nodes higher up in OS since my parents live in that area. Water towers would probably be easiest
