Monterey Bay Users?

I am in Salinas and have yet to come across other users besides those with an active device driving down the freeway. One exception was a connection with some one testing a node on Jack’s Peak.

I have a solar node on my roof set to router, it is running 24/7

I know there must be a few local people out there, would be nice to establish a mesh.

There are a handful of users in this area, none seemingly on the discord here.

Good talking to you tonight all the way from Morgan Hill!

30+ miles with mountains in between…
Good talking with you too.

Hi @SAR41, do you run the SAR44 node? That node does an incredible job bridging Mrymesh with Hollister and Gilroy but unfortunately it seems like there is an issue and the battery is depleting rapidly. Just FYI we’ve been building out the mesh in Monterey fairly aggressively with plans to drop a node on top of Mt. Toro soon.

Yes I put up SAR 44. I have had problems with rodents chewing through the solar panel wire in the past, why SAR 41 is no longer active in Toro.

Might have to visit SAR 44 probably needs a software update anyway.

We now have an active Monterey Bay, San Benito County, and South Santa Clara County discord server at mrymesh.net.

@SAR41 would you be willing to enable the Neighbor Info module on your nodes? I’m setting up a meshinfo map so we can see how strong all the different links are but receive no data from SAR41 and SAR44. Thanks for considering it! If you message me on discord I can show you the map.

Maybe I have missed something, but I am not aware of a neighbor info module.

I will look you up on the discord.

Yeah sorry I was away from my computer when you popped onto discord. Under modules there is “Neighbor info” module and I think if you simply enable it then your nodes’ link data will show up on https://map.mrymesh.net. I would be very interested to see the SNR data from your nodes.

Do you think your node picks up a lot of noise from the nearby tower? If so check these out: Meshtastic LoRa 906.875mhz Cavity Filter – Airframes

Though your node already does a lot of heavy lifting so I’m assuming noise isn’t too much of an issue.
