Connection failed - Waiting for LoRa Data?

Hi Newbie here!

Just received my Heltec V3 in the mail today, plugged in the antenna and connected it to my M1 mac mini (Sonoma 14.2.1). First attempt at flashing the device didn’t work so investigated the serial driver issue. Downloaded and installed both(?) linked files, not keen on installing os level drivers from Chinese websites btw and rebooted.
Driver shows up under system report/usb devices as " CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller" .
So far so good but still nothing happening when I proceed to flashing the device. I can reboot the Heltec and it’ll give me a “connection failed” before scanning my wifi networks and then “waiting for LoRa Data”.

My usb cable btw is fine.

So any hints would be greatly appreciated!

scanning my ports brings up this:

~ % ioreg -p IOUSB
±o Root <class IORegistryEntry, id 0x100000100, retain 30>
±o AppleT8103USBXHCI@01000000 <class AppleT8103USBXHCI, id 0x100000413, registered, matched, active, $
±o AppleT8103USBXHCI@00000000 <class AppleT8103USBXHCI, id 0x100000323, registered, matched, active, $
±o AppleEmbeddedUSBXHCIFL1100@02000000 <class AppleEmbeddedUSBXHCIFL1100, id 0x100000783, registered,$
±o CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller@02200000 <class IOUSBHostDevice, id 0x1000016c8, registered$

even went straight to the USB port on my Mac rather than through Hub/extension cable which requires unplugging lots of stuff first. Still nothing though.

EDIT: Solved! physically disconnected and while reconnecting immediately began the flashing procedure. Seems to have worked fine but a simple powering down, rebooting etc didn’t do the trick.
