Alpha tester thread (1.1.8 device code ready for alpha testing) 🙂

Version 1.1.2 of the android app is available for brave alpha/beta testers. Feedback would be appreciated:

@lgx thanks for the debug panel! This looks really useful. I can’t figure out how to expand the packets to display their contents. In my debug panel I just get the first line for each packet. Is there something I need to do to expand them?

Same as the post above. Can’t expand the rows. Useful feature though thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

If you write really long message, does it happen in the message list ?

Not sure exactly what you mean, but even when I send a really long message I still only see the first line in the debug view

Just curious about the 1.1.2 Android app. Do you just have to sign up to be a beta tester at this link?

Im just asking because I am only seeing 1.1.02

Debug is something new since it updated but like others, I only see single lines with no way of expanding as seen in @geeksville screenshot. This is on Android 8.1

I am wondering if it is only happening with build from Google Play.

@geeksville : is it a screenshot from a local build ?

I was not able to reproduce with many different emulator.

I have worked on the layout, simplified it, maybe it could help

hmm - that screenshot was a local build, but should have been the same as the build I squirted to play. Later this week I can try downloading the play build to see if it does same.

Hi

On my Huawei MediaPad running 7.0 I do not see 1.1.2 in the Play Store only 1.0.0 - is there an apk I could use? Thanks.

1.1.02 is the test version.

@feh123 you need to join the beta. Instructions here https://github.com/meshtastic/Meshtastic-Android

That worked, thanks.

Connected quickly to two tbeams running 1.1, EU865. Debug panel had lots of info - messages mainly called packet with individual reference numbers. No errors apparent - would they be labelled?

Texted both fine. Although both devices picked up their location quickly it took sometime for them to appear on mapbox.

I’ve shared an apk with @devnull, after installing it on my P20 android 10, the debug panel is displayed correctly. When I install the app from Google play, the debug panel display single lines

ok thanks - I guess something was borked with my load. I’ll pull and rebuild and put up a new load (but probably not until we get settled in Taiwan - so Oct 5th ish). I’m trying to get the new (and super high priority) “devices are burning too much power” bug fixed before we have to leave for our flight on Fri.

I don’t know if this is the same bork, but I have been running the app constantly, and have noticed that the bluetooth has become narcoleptic. I have one TTGO in my work car, with battery on the board, charging whenever I drive. The cloud symbol says connected, but sleeping, and it won’t wake up for anything. not reset, not soft reboot, not hard reset of app,

I have to disonnect the battery and do a cold reboot to regain wake state, but it only last a little while if there is no traffic…

The blue Led is blinking, the red Led next to it is constant on, and the one by the GPS antenna connector is blinking

The screen and buttons on the bord work normally, and all menues are fine. I have a motog6plus (XT1926-3) running android 9 and app version 1.1.02

@Bussemann mine were doing the exact same thing when I first got them. The problem went away after I changed the channel to Short Range from Long Range, I didnt much think of it after they were working. I never thought to try any channels in between either.

I will power them all up this weekend and see if I can replicate this again, as well as try the other channels.
