Accidentally bought 868 MHz T-beam (need 915 MHz)

I bought 2 T-Beam - M8N & SX1262. I meant to buy the 915 MHz ones (I’m in the US), but I accidentally got the 868 MHz model. I have some separate 915 MHz antenna’s, but I can’t figure out if there are any hardware differences in the board. I also don’t see any different firmware versions for EU (868) vs US (915). Is there a way to convert these boards to 915 MHz?

Thanks

I think the hardware is pretty much the same except for the supplied antenna. You can probably get a new antenna and make a few changes in the firmware.

yes, on the software frequency is a setting (region) and 868/915 boards should be exactly the same.

Thanks, I’m not sure where the region setting is done. I only see one flavor of firmware. When I look at: Release 1.2.45 beta · meshtastic/Meshtastic-device · GitHub I don’t see versions for different regions. In the ZIP file I see this firmware for my T-Beam: firmware-tbeam-1.2.45.b674054.bin

Where are the regions set?

don’t worry, whatever interface or app you use it is very simple to set your region/frequency.

The app requires you to set region the first time you use it. You shouldn’t be able to avoid it.

Did it work out?

I am also interested in buying this board but sadly they don’t have a 433 MHZ version. Is yours working well?

I often questioned if it was different modules (or at least different crystal/programmed with a different resistor) so it is good to know that the 868/915 are just firmware switchable.

My question is does this extend to the 433/other bands. I am a scientist who collects data from different regions and it would be nice to just reflash and change antenna rather than having 3-4 sets of devices

I think there may be some old chips that support this but a 1262 433 radio can’t be switched to 868/915.

Thanks for the clarification. Will eventually be developing custom device so will put LORA on a separate board
