I’m planning a failover communication system with a few friends of mine. we live in a suburb area we’re it is rather easy as nearly all houses have the same height, so mounting a big antenna 2 meters higher than the rooftop would fit (in parallel a directed wifi network will be added but thats not meshtastic related topic)
the distances are from a few hundred meters up to ~ 2.5km betweed nodes and houses form a rather good mesh structure. so the plan is to install high and big antennas onto every rooftop for a repeater node and everyone participating uses mobile devices (i ordered a few t decks and t watches). so the antennas on the roofs are the uplink for the mobile devices using their internal antennas.
every repeater station in the long run should get at least a few kwp solar and ~ 10kwh of energy storage. i dont think the energy requirement is so high that additional generator power is required. (i am a bachelor professional electrician and my main job is building solar plants with diesel backup)
do you think this will work or do i get problems like to many hops or so?
