Set name of device in IOS

Hi,
I am new to Meshtastic, and have two working t-beams with v. 1.2.52.
Having problems setting the name via Iphone app.
I have entered the name in settings on the Iphone, but it don´t seem to register. The device is still named “UnknownXXXX”.

Is this a bug in the Iphone client?

Is it possible to set the name of the device via CLI? If so, what is the command?

the cli command is meshtastic --set-owner “name”

The setting on the iOS app is for the app user (used by the location sending feature) and not the device settings, there are no device settings in the iOS app yet.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I noticed when setting the name in the Android app, that it actually set the same name on the device.

However, doing the same procedure in the IOS app did not have the same effect. Meaning - the “Unknown XXXX” name still remains in the t-beam device connected to the Iphone, while the device connected to the Android Phone got the name set in the Android app.

I guess I can use the --set-owner-name to give the device connected to the Iphone the correct name, if I understand you correctly. Will try that.

I am totally new to Meshtastic so far, and have a bit of learning to catch up with here. Sorry if I am not using the correct terminology when describing this issue.

I will take time to go through the code base, and hopefully come back with a better understanding of the concepts.

While at it, I would like to add that the private group feature is high on my wishlist, and I am willing to help with that in any way I can. The UI in the IOS device for this seems like a good first step, and I am looking forward to seeing it implemented on Android as well.

Thanks,
/Nicklas
