Released the magic smoke from a RAK5005 - what will have fried?

Hi all,
I just tested whether the RAK Wisblock has voltage polarity protection. It doesn’t.

So now that I’ve killed my RAK5005 carrier board, will I get away with just replacing that or will the radio and GPS modules be fried as well?

Any advice will be welcome please.

Plugging power in backwards to the battery connector is probably the end of both.

Urgh, I suspected that might be the case. So the carrier board doesn’t have any components that will burn out to protect the modules that are attached?

You can take a look at the data sheet here RAK19007 WisBlock Base Board 2nd Gen Datasheet | RAKwireless Documentation Center

It is worth checking, there is a DC-DC converter which may be the problem. I would at least test any plug-in modules… Please let us know what you find.

I believe there is a 50/50 chance that the radio and GPS modules did in fact survive the action.
