I’m new to Meshtastic and live in San Antonio between Alamo Heights and Ft Sam Houston. Anyone else in the area?

Hey there, switch your mqtt topic over to msh/US/TX and join us in building out the mesh. Here’s a howto, just add SanAntonio instead of Houston (though you’re welcome in Houston as well). Most of us hang out on the Texas channel.
Also, give me feedback on how to make the howto easier. Engineers always make the worst tech writers.

I’d suggest having one mqtt gateway node per physical mesh. The easiest/most stable way is to 1: factory reset an esp32 based node like a heltec, 2: get it setup on your wifi under the radio config: network menu. After it reboots, you can cycle through the screens to find your IP, or check your DHCP clients on the router to find the IP to connect to connect in the Meshtastic app. 3: under the radio config: mqtt menu, enable mqtt, set the root topic to msh/US/TX [1000047409] 4: click send …

Yeah, I usually don’t link longfast on mqtt, as it’s nice to have one channel that is strictly RF for testing But I was trying to find someone for a new guy to connect with out there. Pop it on, drop a message, wait a few, unlink it and move on.
