Heltec Capsule Sensor V3

hi

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with one of your capsules.
On your working device, which GPS pin (GPS EN GPIO) is it set to? I have 21 at the moment.

Just received 2 of them here in Montreal, Quebec Canada from Heltec. Hopefully we can get these updated soon to the latest firmware, they run 2.2.17. The power button on them is REALLY tough to press. Originally they were supposed to have a capacitive touch button but from what I heard they had too many issues so looks like they swapped it for a hardware button.

has anyone tried to update this device?
getting it to save some energy?

Anyone have any thoughts on course of action if I am not getting a GPS fix? Meshtastic settings? Heltec support?

Just a thought, when said left it for a while, was that with a clear line of sight of the sky. (ie outside)
… some GPS devices are sensitive enough to still work indoors, but not all.

Also was it connected to charging cable? So it doesnt run out of battery while still downloading the Almanac?

How do you update the meshtastic firmware without a usb port?

some kind of OTA
have not tried it yet.
at the moment there is no official meshtastic firmware for this device !
dont try to update it, if not willing to take the risk to brick the device.
it is delivered with a modified-by-heltec meshtastic firmware.
maybe licence violation !
we can expect a official meshtatic firmware for this device soon :=)

is it possible to disable the blinking led light?

Sensible advice, still no joy though. Its had a good 36 hours of sky hooked up to a battery in all now and nothing :frowning:

pin 21?

In my settings i have it set to connect to GPS on pin21. Could someone with a working Capsule confirm they are using the same pin?

the antenna skyward direction !?
the big round part upwards

I turned off the Bluetooth on one of my Capsel sensors. Because I thought it might last a few hours longer. I have already tried installing new firmware. but the sensor is no longer visible via Bluetooth.

is there another way to access the settings?
or reset it to factory settings?

I found this on the heltec site. My capsule just arrived after waiting since Feb. 28. It doesn’t appear to respond to bluetooth, however, the wifi worked when I tried to find the 192.168.4.1 page.

How do you know you are not getting a fix?

your device has its position and broadcasts it. position not beeing provided by phone…

i wrote to heltec (support heltec) about the too short battery runtime, they offered me a refund.
i answered them i dont want refund, i want firmware that gets long battery runtime , as promised in the ads.

As Kilroy suggests, If its getting a fix, its not broadcasting it/ making it available. If i share the phone’s location then it will share that. So I’m assuming its the hardware or connection to it that is not functioning.

I’m still waiting for a reply, did you use : support@heltec[.]cn

Just got a handful of these things and wow what a pain they are. I finally was able to get the firmware flashed (see here: Reddit - Dive into anything) but I can’t see via bluetooth. Not in my phone settings or in the meshtastic app?

Anyone figure this out?

what firmware did you flash em with?
they come flashed with some special mesht firmware…

I bought two of these to use as trackers. Neither of them are broadcasting coordinates! Has anyone been able to view a debug file or know a to connect this to a serial monitor via bluetooth or wifi?

i got one,
in config menu of “original firmware” it shows “gps disabled”
but after some time it gets a fix and positions…
maybe that helps
