T-echo blinking red

I took the the T with me on holiday. After we arrived at the destintion the T was blinking red (fast) The firmware was the 2.2.22.404d0dd Alpha. What does the red led flashing mean ?.

Extra info,

After clicking the reset twice the T comes visible as usb memory. Loading another firmware does it’s work. But screen hangs with the text rebooting. Led is now blinking blue, red, red. But the T is doing nothing anymore.

I think I had the same on one of my T-Echos too. Unfortunately can’t remember exactly how I recovered from it. TBH, I think I just went a bit crazy with double / triple pressing the buttons and re-flashing. Don’t think this required wipe flash, but worth trying. Good luck and welcome!

Thanks for the answer and idea. Have removed barrery, but keeps returning in this state. If it recovers, i will post it here.

After some playing with the buttons, i is showing up as a usb drive. Put the Latest Beta on it, it resets itself en then… The display is still showing Rebooting… nothing else.

A little step further, the original softrf firmware 1.3 does work. Display and bluetooth are working. I think i have to erase the memory completely through the jtag connector. When i am home from holiday i will try that…

Any luck? I think I have the same issue. My left led rapidly blinks red. Although for me, double pressing the reset button doesn’t put the device into usb flash mode.
Also long pressing the bottom button doesn’t power down the device.
The only thing that does anything is holding down the reset button, which will stop the led from blinking temporarily.

Managed to get the device out of the red blink of death mode.
Pulled the battery, and restarted the device. Then I was able to get the device to mount in Windows.
From there I tried to use the factor reset file, but after about 10 tries I couldn’t get it to work.
Then I just tried to copy over the latest firmware update. That seemed to work somewhat. The device now boots up and shows the FW version, battery level, etc. There are a few issues.

  • When left outside for an hour with clear view of the sky, it’s not receiving any signals, or GPS data. Shows 0/1 GPS.
  • When I turn the device off, there is a blue led inside the case that blinks every second.
  • Battery life is very poor. I charged the device to 100%, but after 8 hours in “Sleeping…” mode the battery was down to 63%,

Any ideas?

My unit had GPS problems, too. Here is how I solved it:

Where did you get the factory reset file ? And does it need the jtag 4 pin connector ?
If i put the SoftRF (1.4) software on it it resets itself and boots up. I think there is something spooky with the flash memory…

The online meshtastic wipe option did the trick. It si working again. What to do with the newly bought T-beam supreme

Looking at my unit, it seems like the conductive tape isn’t touching the other components. How does it appear to you?

Looks ok to me. The yellowish insulating tape seems to be placed correctly below the mesh tape.

Ok good to know. I also ordered a new antenna. I’ll see if that helps at all.
I should try wiping an re-installing again also.

Wiped an reinstalled the latest beta firmware (2.2.23.5672e68), but it still doesn’t seem to be working. On the device I only have 2 screens, (attached below). I can pair the device to my phone, even access it via the web client when it’s connected to my PC, but leaving it outside for hours still shows no gps/gps not present.

I have another one of these, but I’m hesitant to use it because I’ll be prompted to update it before I can use it with the Meshtastic app on my phone, and that seems to be what started these issues for me.
I wonder if I’m missing some step here. Are there any beginners guides that take you beyond this one? https://meshtastic.letstalkthis.com/

have you tried setting all 3 different gps settings (disable /not present/ enabled)in the meshtastic app? maybe some settings got mixed up here. try to set to not present , restart /disable-restart and enable restart…
and then, after a possible gps reset, the fix can take some long time, for getting it to fix faster, i gave it the gps coodinates by phone once ( enable and disable in meshtastic app) and then internal gps fixed quite fast… maybe that helped.

I tried playing around with the GPS settings but it didn’t make a difference.
I also still only have the 2 screens available. I opened up the other T-echo, and it has 6 screens available.
Is there a lower level method to wipe and reinstall the software?
