Using Linux instead Windows I do not get on with Windows
I normally use Ubuntu I have not programmed for years having to return programing agen thanks
I use Visual Studio Code with the Platformio plug-in to program all my ESP32 devices. No problem what so ever.
I have VSC w/Platformio running on an Ubuntu machine as well as a Raspberry Pi 4.

Best to start with downloading VSC, then install PlatformIO follow these instructions to clone the git:
