I recognized, that the connection between device and iOS device (with latest Meshtastic App) is lost when the app is inactive after some minutes. When opening the app again, one has to first connect to the device in the Bluetooth-Tab of the Meshtastic App. This holds also for devices that are labeled as “Preferred Radio”.
By this it is not possible to stay online, when the app is not open. Is this a normal behavior? I would expect, that it would be better to stay connected and to reconnect if the connection is lost (e.g. when radio is out of range for few minutes or so).
I’m seeing the same thing. A couple of days ago I was going some range testing with two Lilygo Tbeams v1.1 which were running FW V2.0.6.97. I sent messages from various locations and would wait for an acknowledgment confirming that the message had been received. When I returned to verify that messages had actually been received I found that that latest messages were not to be found within the Meshtastic app. It was then that I discovered that the BLE connection to my iPad had dropped. I reestablished the BLE connection between the iPad and Tbeam and waited to see if those missing messages would appear in the Meshtastic app. After a short wait all the missing messages did show up.
Devices are going out of range, it definitely stays connected in the background if the device is in range and will reconnect within 60 seconds of a disconnect. More aggressive re-connecting was rejected by app review and I have not re-visited it since the App Store launch.
Nope. I have the devices sitting right next to each other. As long as I keep the app active the connection stays active. When I minimize the app I loose the bt connection. Even when devices are still well within range.
