Heltec v3 + neom6v2 = no sats

Yep.

This bit;

$GPGSV,1,1,00*79

Whilst the GPS has power and it is sending stuff out via the serial port, the $GPGSV output, assuming the GPS is outdoors with a good view of the sky, is telling you that either the GPS is faulty or the GPS antenna is faulty.

I see, well then i guess im ordering another typ of gps module! :slight_smile:

Thank you all for all the help, really appreciate it!

i tried a fourth module, looks much better.

Went for a walk but still get “no sats” :frowning: any ideas?

That indicates there is no sats in view.

Is the GPS outdoors with a good view of the sky ?

well, i went for a walk with the heltec v3 + gps-module for about 20min. But still got “no sats”. Tried a restart as well.
im on my way to connecting the gps-module directly to my laptop and try to use ucenter, see if i can see anything there.

Thanks again for all your help!

it seems to see satellites at least. Soldered it to the heltec but still “no sats” when im outside haha.
Ill guess ill wait for the next batch of gps modules.

Thanks again!

Well yes, but only just.

The satellite signals are extremly week, it might take ages to get a fix or never.

Look at the signal strengths, 19,21,21,22. They need to be 26 or greater. Normally outside you would expect to see satellites at 35+

Thats either a faulty GPS, a faulty GPS antenna or the GPS is not outside with a good view of the sky.

There are lots of screenshots of the signal strengths here;

https://stuartsprojects.github.io/2020/09/10/GPS-antennas-effectiveness-and-weight.html

Note the added red line, thats at signal strength 26, which is the threshold of working.
