Feature request: "is router" nodes forwarding more than one chanel names?!

Hi all,

I would like to build a quite big network of solar powered router nodes here in my area. Using them just for my own friends and family members would be nice, but actually a waste of resources.
I would be happy to provide the infrastructure to other “private channels” and / or to a generic worldwide common “default channel”.

Do you think this approach of multi channels support is possible in a future software release?

Looking forward to your oppinion to that idea.

I believe forward all channels is coming in version 1.2 soon to be in alpha.

yep - first alpha of 1.2 comes this week. Though we probably won’t be asking folks to try the multichannel feature for a couple of weeks (it is in there now, but I want to make a python test harness for it before asking users to try it)

Wow, sounds great, that will push the project and community quite a bit forward, that´s for sure.
I assume it will be confugurable if multichannel forward feature is on or off?!?
Will the position of a is_router node be seen by all connected users? It maybe would not be good to show the position to everyone, especially if the routers are hidden somewhere in the public areas. A configurable “hide or show position” would be great.

What about the psk of my private channel? Is it possible to have psk on the private channel and nevertheless all other channels will be forwarded, regardless if they have psk or not?

A few years ago I did quite a lot of µC programming in the quadcopter and drone community, I think I have to dive into the sourcecode and bring some support to the meshtastic project…

Was this ever implemented?

It is in the Python API client, there has been very little testing.

So does it relay all messages from all nodes (even belonging to strangers) if they’re on the same frequency?
