2.5ghz questions

I have heard talk of 2.5ghz Lora.

  1. Pessimistic s out the answer but can you get wifi/Bluetooth equipment to speak Lora? It would probably take a firmware change or kernal patch thus making it unable to be used for wifi without reversion, it could I take the wifi card in my desktop and make it a repeater/router?

  2. Given it is a diff frequency range from most Lora equipment what are the benefits of 2.5ghz be the cobs of having to have a whole separate network with maybe a PC or other node rebroadcasting on the 915mhz range?

Have you looked at 802.11ah?

Didn’t know this was a thing.

Many years ago an American ham radio group did a thing where they hacked a standard Wi-Fi card to be able to re-transmit on UHF band across the valley. Obviously without encryption, but they seem to make it work using some directional antennas but they don’t make that particular Wi-Fi card anymore.

It would be interesting to see what long-distance we can get out of the .AH standard
