OK, so I decided to take the plunge and started with the Web flasher on a Heltec S3. The flashing went OK, no particular issues.
Then for simplicity I tried to use the Web Client to setup the Heltec. The Web client could see the COM port that the Heltec was connected to, I am using Edge on Windows 10.
But I can see no save button or other way to save the config to the Heltec.
I tried Edge I think, and Chrome on Windows is the only thing that worked for me. And it is finniky enough on that… worth reading which buttons to press [Edit: on the node] when before taking a dive.
I installed a copy of Chrome portable, the floppy disk icon now changes colour when the mouse cursor moves over it and saving the config now works. This was not happening with the Edge on my laptop.
I guess if your an experienced writer of software it would be obvious to you that a small floppy disk icon meant ‘Save’ but I wonder how many younger and inexperienced users realise this.
