I have been following some of the discussion regarding RF output power from RAK4631 modules with various Meshtastic firmware versions running. After reading that the problem had been fixed with the latest code changes, I broke out the spectrum analyzer and took a few measurements.
I have two 4631s and neither of them have the little blue “open source” sticker mentioned in the other threads. I bought them during summer 2022.
For my test setup, I have the RAK5005/4631 combo powered by a 380mAh LiPo, RF output is transmitted through a directional coupler into a 1W load, and the -19.5dB coupled signal is sent to the RF input on my spectrum analyzer. LoRa settings have been left as default. Region set to US.
FW | RF output
2.0.12 | -0.5dBm
2.0.13 | 23.1dBm
2.0.14 | 22.7dBm
2.0.15 | 23.1dBm
Looks like we are getting advertised power levels now on the 4631, thanks to the folks who found and fixed the problem.
Cheers
