Are 18650 safe to charge constantly on T-Beam 1.1?

Hello,

is it safe to leave a T-Beam 1.1 permanently connected to a USB charger? Will it cause any issues with unprotected 18650 cells?

I want to use mains power as long as it is available, with the 18650 as a backup option.

18650 cells with protection do not fit the device, at least the ones I have tried.

The AXP chip used by the tbeam has charge protection built in, tbeams don’t need protected cells.
