Questions about chip sets

I am currently living in canada and was wondering if there would be a way to install meshtastic onto something that has been approved by IC like the MTDOT-915-X1P-SMA-1
Here is more info on it https://www.mouser.ca/ProductDetail/MultiTech/MTDOT-915-X1P-SMA-1?qs=7MVldsJ5Uaw8Hfuwrgw0yA%3D%3D
Or does anyone know of other IC approved chip sets that meshtastic can be flashed onto?

ESP32 or NRF52 are the two supported chips

… and x86/arm, but support is still “new”

meshtasticd still not working… and no arm build of that.

Why would you worry about approval or certification?. If you use these devices for hobby, sport and alike nobody will care as long as you follow the regional regulation about frequency, power-emissions and channel-duty-cycle.

Unless you plan to use devices on these frequencies on a commercial basis. Then sooner or later big-telecom will probably investigate you because you are a potential competitor to them. Then laywers may try to find a way to block your business. Then certified devices may be nessacary

Different countries have vastly different radio licensing rules, he want chips that are approved in Canada.

Isn’t it so that not chips or chipsets are approved by IC or FCC. But wireless devices and/or wireless modules, which may be build around a certain chip or chipset.

Everyone has different requirements, licenses, certifications and appetite for risk.
