How to test if the NEO-6M GPS Module is not faulty?
If the red LED blinks once per second, that means the GPS has received enough of a signal to produce a time pulse.
There may be other ways, but that’s the easy one.
btw - this is now no longer a good indication, because most of the time (once we have a gps position) we now turn the GPS off to save power. So that red led won’t be blinking then. We turn the gps on only occasionally with the default preferences.
the easiest way is to leave it outside for a bit and then look at the screen to see if it has a gps lock.
Thanks for the response.
I managed to get a GPS lock after 4h of just leaving it on outside. Is this usual? How would I change the GPS settings and are their any instructions for creating new binary files?
oops - I just updated my comment with instructions on how to disable the gps. No need for a new binary.
if the antenna connection is marginal it can take a long time for the gps to get its first almanac, but it should then be much faster.
