Hi girls and guys. I have a Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3.1 868Mhz, FW 2.4.0.46d7b82 Beta. Restarts over and over after power on. Both after connecting to USB and after connecting from the battery. My findings. When I hold my finger near or on the BLE antenna while trying to start, it starts. Where can the problem be?
Have you done any soldering on the board? Kind of sounds like a bridged connection to ground that may be causing it.
No soldering. I used a brand new one right out of the box. I connected the antenna. I plugged in the USB cable and uploaded the firmware via webflasher. Everything worked. After about two days it started restarting after turning it on. I replaced the USB cable. That helped for about two days. I also bought a Li-pol battery and it behaves the same as with a USB cable.
I’ve got a LoRa 32 v3 that behaves the same way, and the finger workaround also works for me.
I got this particular board secondhand, so I don’t know if something happened to it that would have caused this issue (visually looks like new). If anyone has a more permanent fix that doesn’t require human intervention, please share.
My solution is in the picture. I replaced the finger with a piece of insulated wire. The final solution will be soldering one end of the wire to GND. Bring the other end closer to the WiFi/BLE antenna. Just like in the picture. BLE connection works normally. So that’s my solution. I don’t know exactly how, but it works. You can try it.
I have a similar issue with two of mine (915), got them from Aliexpress. They’ve both done it from the start. Different software versions didn’t seem to make any difference, so it’s got to be hardware. I can get it to boot properly when holding the top button, but maybe it’s my finger being next to the BLE antenna… hmm.
